Skin is in and cutout tops provide the perfect peek at showing some. From chunky sweaters to smooth silhouettes you are going to notice slashes here and there. This playful style is such a great way to elevate any look. Going into the spring I’m wearing thinner shirts opposed to sweaters but I will never rule out a great cutout sweater on a cooler spring night. If you are unsure about trying the trend there are many options for the modest. A sliver in the sleeves adds something a little extra to a plain shirt. My personal favorite, a little peek of the collarbone. I mean who doesn’t love a good clavicle? Pair these shirts with jeans or joggers. In the summertime they would look super chic with a pair of cutoffs and heels. Top the tanks with a light blazer and be on your way. There’s just something about showing a little pop of skin that makes any look unique. I have linked my sweater as well of some other options here.
This trend has been gaining a lot of popularity in the past few years and I am 100% here for it. I was a bit hesitant in the beginning as I’m on the shorter side with short legs. I’m all torso over here. I was afraid I’d look a bit frumpy with the cut of the pants. I initially tried paper bag waisted shorts to calm my nerves over the wide legged fit of the pants. If I liked the way the shorts looked I could find a pant that would work as well. The short were a winner so I decided to go big or go home and purchase some pants. To my delight I also loved them. Keep in mind paper bag waists can be tricky to style. With the high waist being clenched and not smooth like a traditional high rise you can run into a issue on what tops look best. The clenched waist design gives the illusion of a smaller waist and lets be honest gals, who wouldn’t take that? A fitted top that can be tucked in is a great option. When trying to achieve this type of look I always turn towards body suits. They create a seamless look. This avoids looking frumpy. Next I like to wear them with cropped tops that allow a little tuck but your skin also peeks out when you raise your arm. This adds a little playfulness to the look. I prefer a looser fit trousers for everyday. Sneakers are always my go-to. When going out you can easily transition from sneakers to heels and you’re good to go. I have also branched out and purchased a cream pair for the warmer months. Skinny paper waist pants are another great option. The combination of the clenched waist and fitted pants are a clear winner. I have linked a few I have and some that have caught my eye here. Thanks for reading!
I’ve become a big fan of baseball…hats. I haven’t been to a game in ages and I don’t particularly support any specific team but quite frankly I’d give just about anything to go anywhere these days and that includes a sporting event. Back to the hats. Baseball hats have been gaining more and more popularity these past years. They are a great option when transitioning from season to season. Specifically now, so swap out that beanie for a baseball hat. They add a sporty touch to any outfit. Not to mention they are great when your dry shampoo can’t take you that extra day. I love pairing them with a blazer. Mixing refined and sporty pieces is a favorite look I like to play around with. In the summer I like pairing them with fitted jersey dresses. Transitioning into spring I will wear a baseball cap with a hoodie sweatshirt. Baseball caps are also a lot easier to transport which means I’ll be wearing them by the pool this summer. I also like to keep one in my car just incase the occasion calls for it. I’m currently really crushing on this rust color. I just ordered this lighter one for the spring. I’m more into neutral tones but I do like a pop of pastels for the spring and a hat is a great way to achieve it. I have rounded up some hats here that are perfect to transition from winter to spring. I love all these colors…I see a purchase in my future. Thanks for reading!
I don’t know about you guys but when I get the urge to decorate and change things around there’s no stopping me. I recently rearranged our living room and it feels like a whole new space. I felt like it was just blah and not really doing much for me anymore. I would walk past, and nothing… I was about to order new couches and get new wallpaper, I had the items in my cart. I mean, I was a woman on a mission after all. Then, instead of hitting the ‘complete order’ button I thought to myself how can I redecorate without buying a ton of new things? The truth of the matter is, we didn’t need a new sofa or coffee table. I ended up rearranging the furniture and purchasing just one new comfy chair and a piece of artwork. These small tweaks gave the room a new look and feel. So I tell you friends, before you hit the add to cart button on a big investment read this post because I’m sharing how to change the rooms around in your house without breaking the bank. Essentially, one to two new things can add a new feel to a room. Another trick I like to do is relocating pieces into different rooms. For example, I like to change the decor on the bookshelves in my family room. Most things have been rotated from my dining room and foyer. Believe in the power of feng shui.
Here’s a few ideas:
Dining Room: Add a wine rack or relocate a piece of furniture. When we were redecorating our dining room last year I knew I wanted a bar cart or serving table for the corner. I was shopping around and couldn’t find anything I loved. Then it dawned on me to use my vanity! I love it but I haven’t used it in years and it holds sentimental value so selling it was not an option. All I needed were some trays, books and picture frames to finish the look. Next, a wine rack which serves two purposes. I got this one, it holds the wine and is also a decorative wall piece.
Living Room: Statement chair: Sometimes you just need a piece of statement furniture to do the trick and this sherpa chair did just that. It tied the whole room together. It’s cozy, priced right and fits in perfectly. I also bought a few these decorative pillows.
Family Room: Photos or wall art. I love to display family photos. These frames allow me to create a gallery wall in clean and uniform fashion. I always change up my throw pillows in the family room. They see a lot of action with all these kids. I’ve had thesethreestyles for a while and they have survived many pillow fights.
Kitchen: Add some cozy vibes by decorating the island with trays, candles, a faux plants or pedestal trays. I personally have these pedestal stands. I love adding some fresh greenery such as baby’s breath, eucalyptus and lavender from the local farmers market. A faux plant will look just as good. I have this little cutie. Stack a few cutting boards behind the stove top. I like to get ones that look like petrified wood but any cutting boards can do the trick.
Foyer: I like to keep the foyer simple. We have this table and I love it. I decorate it with small objects like this and this (I have both and always switch there locations around) ,a candle, fresh flowers and lean some art work up against the wall behind it. Mine is no longer available but I like this one a lot.
Other ways to spruce up a room are area rugs and storage baskets. they work in almost any room. I hope this post has given you some decorating ideas. Thanks for reading you can find some more great products here.
Remember that really dark time in history when leggings weren’t considered pants. Thank god that’s over. Are you looking to elevate your everyday black leggings? Well you’re in luck…do read on. This look encompasses all of my favorite winter essentials. Faux patent leather leggings, an oversized sweater, a shacket and boots. This quite simply is my winter style in a nutshell. I prefer to stay in on long winter nights. However, when I do have to venture out and look presentable faux leather leggings are the piece I work around. Every look has a beginning. For example, I will plan an outfit solely around a pair of shoes and work my way up, literally. Maybe it’s peculiar but it works for me. I also read magazines from back to front. We all have our little quirks. This season I purchased these leggings and I couldn’t be happier. I love my faux leather leggings but these faux patent leather leggings are a step up. I like to call them my ass kicking leggings because I feel like trinity from the Matrix or cat woman . So here’s the deal, I bought a pair last year from a really great brand but they squeaked when I walked. No matter how amazing they looked I had to return them. I mean I’m not a rubber duck. This year I found the pair I’m wearing and I’m happy to report there’s zero squeaking. I also have to mention the fantastic tummy control. It’s a win win. These leggings are on the thicker side but can easily transition to spring during those chilly evenings. So put on your ass kicking leggings whichever ones they are and carpe diem! Thanks so much for reading. You can find my full outfit details here.
I know I know A swimsuit post in February? Listen, we are about to get what feels like our 10th snow storm of the season tomorrow and well…I’m over it. I shouldn’t be since I live in the north east but I am. I enjoy snow up until the end of December when the holiday season is over. After that I feel like spring should magically appear. Ah, wishful thinking. We just booked our first family vacation since 2019. We skipped last year because we had little Asher and I was worried with the pandemic. Needless to say, I am excited! Which means I’m planing all my day time outfits aka bathing suits and cover-ups!
Ok let’s talk swimsuits. Not a favorite topic of some but you need at least one. Since I had children I‘ve gravitated towards high waisted bikini bottoms and one piece suits. Mainly because I can run around, chase them and not have to worry about something coming out of place. I also love these styles because they give the wearer a nice shape. Let’s be honest these are just more practical for the town pool or my backyard. I mean if I were going to Bora Bora I would certainly wear a tiny bikini and not give a damn because I was in paradise.
The sad truth is these suits will be sold out or back ordered very soon. They are all priced perfectly. The last thing I want to do is spend $200 on a bathing suit only to have my kid spill part of his fire cracker ice pop on it. No thank you. I personally own four of these suits and love them. The quality is great and you can’t beat the prices or fast shipping. So grab a suit before they’re gone and don’t forget to reapply your sunscreen.
Thanks for reading and take a look at all of my picks here.
I like my knits how I like my peanut butter..chunky. Winter jackets aren’t my favorite but living in the northeast they are a necessity. Please don’t even get me started with driving with one on. Think of the kid from A Christmas Story trying to drive an SUV filled with four tiny humans arguing over who get’s to open the garage door first. This is a true story. Thinking of it actually gives me hot flashes. Ah sweet motherhood. Anyway back to the knits. Chunky knits replace jackets as soon as it warms up. A good knit is my saving grace on warmer winter days. They are the perfect piece to transition from season to season. Layer an oversized tee with one in the fall. In the winter you can add a little something extra to your turtleneck. Going from winter to spring I like to use them as my coat. Not only are they warm but they are extremely stylish. The Sophistication of the silhouette elevates any look. I have styled them with joggers, leggings, jeans and slip dresses. I’ll throw one on when I feel chilly at home. They go especially well over pj’s. I have the one I’m wearing in three colors. I guess you can say I’m a fan. Thanks for reading!
The House Dress – a simple, usually washable, dress suitable for wearing while doing housework. That’s the definition according to google. In this post I’m referring to dresses that can easily transition from wearing around the house to running errands. When you imagine a house dress what do you picture? I’ll tell you what I see, a woman in the 1950’s with a button down long dress that has short sleeves. It might even have some sort of floral print. How do I picture house dresses today? A stylish, comfy dress that can be worn doing housework, chasing children around the yard to also the occasional run to the grocery store. Or in other words, a nice change from my typical leggings and oversized sweater. Let’s face it, sometimes you just want to look cute even though you’re staying home. Ever since I’ve had children I feel like I’m always in a rush. I think it just comes with the territory. I like simple outfits that don’t take much thought but the finished product is stylish and a good house dress fits the bill. We don’t wear shoes in our home so I am always in slippers. The only time I wear shoes is when I’m snapping a quick outfit pic. I go through so many slippers it surprises even me. When home I like to style dresses with a nice pair of comfy, chunky socks. If I do venture out I pair them with combat boots or sneakers. If you’ve been reading my posts you already know that I love mixing feminine pieces with sporty sneaks or rugged boots. Think Dr. Martens or converse sneakers meets lace and frills. It breaks up the formality of the look. Since we are still in the winter season I usually wear long dresses around the house. Once the spring hits I’ll pair them with a leather or denim jacket. My mom got me a white denim jacket that I can’t wait to wear. I know a lot of us are stuck home right now but that doesn’t mean you have to give up on dressing cute. Throw on a house dress and see where the day takes you!
I’ve linked all my current favorite house dresses here.
Let’s be honest, most of us try our best to live a healthy lifestyle. I try to incorporate these healthy habits into my daily routine which in turn has made them become part of my life. They may seem small but they are mighty. I notice a difference when I skip a day or two. Like many other people by the end of the day I’m tired, I mean like really tired . Raising 4 kids, trying to nurture them into legit decent humans is tough. Never in my life did I think it would be this tough but it’s also so rewarding.
Drink water with lemon- Sounds simple enough right? You would be surprised how many people are not consuming the right amount of water daily. Below is a little trick I learned to calculate how much water you should be drinking. I also know a lot of people who don’t enjoy drinking water in general. I find adding lemon, cucumber, mint give water a nice taste. Infuse your water with some berries, pineapple or melon. Most importantly…drink you water! This water bottle is super helpful to those who forget to drink water!
Calculating how much water you should drink a day:
Take your weight (in pounds) and divide that by 2.2.
Multiply that number depending on your age: If you’re younger than 30, multiply by 40. If you’re between 30-55, multiply by 35. If you’re older than 55, multiply by 30.
Divide that sum by 28.3.
Your total is how many ounces of water you should drink each day. Divide that number by 8 to see your result in cups.
A healthy skincare routine. This is so important. Keeping consistent with a skin care routine can keep your skin glowing and if your skin in glowing you are baby. I have a day time and night time routine and both take under 5 mins. I don’t have time for too many steps but I always do a cleanser, serum, eye cream, moisturizer and neck cream. My day and night products are linked here. Oh and I never ever forget sunscreen! The serums I use are pricey but they are the best and worth every penny If you can swing it.
Carve out 30 minutes of “me” time. This is usually when I have my afternoon cup of coffee or tea. I like to use this time for exercising but sometimes I just need to relax. I start with a quick few minutes of stretching. You’ll be surprised at how fantastic a good stretch makes you feel. Speaking of me time this could mean getting lost in a rabbit hole search of the new Targaryen series or looking for our next vacation. Having a few minutes solitude helps me collect my thoughts for the rest of the day. I will either set the kids up with an activity or put on a show. As moms there should be no shame for turning on the tv or allowing them their tablet for short periods of time. Mamma needs her time too.
Fresh air. This is so important. Even on the coldest of days we are going out for at least a half hour. Ever feel off or aggravated? Go for a walk. I read somewhere that fresh air can reset your mood. See what a world of good it can do.
Unwind with a book and a warm beverage before bed. I’ve been cutting out television before bed and upping my reading game. I’ve noticed how much better I’ve been sleeping. I try to read for at least 20 mins before bed. This calms my mind and helps me unwind. I always enjoy a cup of tea while I read. The whole process is just relaxing to me and by the end of the day I’m looking forward to it. This tea has has been a favorite of mine and really helps me unwind. I also love these mugs.
My last bit, give yourself grace. It’s been a rough year. Scarlett O’Hara said it best “tomorrow is another day”. We aren’t perfect and that’s ok. Making small changes can have big results. These specific healthy habits may not work for you but I think getting into some sort of routine is great start. Wishing you a happy and healthy Sunday friends.
Ive added links throughout this post but if you like to see everything in one place you can here. While you are there you can give a “follow” so I pop up on your feed. Happy Sunday friends.
In the words of my grandmother…there’s no wrong way to give a gift, as long as it comes from the heart. Some people go extravagant and some people go minimal. Same goes for us, some years we go big and some years we forget all together. One year I found myself running into Walgreens for a KitKat heart and a card after school drop off. Hey, its reality which somehow balances itself off. I can’t say exactly what I got Michael this year because like a good husband, he reads my blog posts. I will say it’s something from this guide. I compiled together gifts that range from extravagant to simple. I had more time this year to realize that Valentine’s Day was approaching since that’s really all we have on our hands, time. I’ve included two mini guides as I like to call them. There’s nothing worse than being overwhelmed with a ton of choices if you do happen to be pressed for time. Most of these are next day shipping or even available for curbside pick up depending on your location. One thing I will say is, don’t forget something sweet for your sweetheart. Remember most drugstores are open 24hrs and carry an array of cute Valentine’s Day candy. Have a partner who is clueless? Give them the hint and send this post on over!
