Pops of Color for The Spring

Spring lip colors

Lipstick to the face is like jewelry to the body.  It’s the easiest way to elevate any look.  When you read “pops of color” maybe you thought I was referring to the current floral print trend.  I’m talking lips people, lots of lip colors.  I’m rounding up my favorite lipsticks/balms to get you through the warmer months while by adding a little glam to your make up routine.

If I’m feeling a bit blah I’ll put on a pretty lip color and I’m ready to conquer the day.   In all seriousness, there’s just something about a bold lip that makes me me powerful and confident.   Lip colors have come such a long way.  Now more than ever there are so many brands and color options that everyone should be able to find colors they love.  Also, I don’t have to be dressed up to sport a bold lip.  I’ll be in joggers and a tank yet I’ll add a pink lip.  Lip color has always been a way for me to express my style.  Think of lipstick as a mood ring.  Let it express how you’re feeling.   Scroll down for my favorite colors of the season.

Bold: This is the lipstick I’m wearing on my photo 💋 I just purchased it from the Sephora sale and I love how it’s not red but a bright and bold intense pink red.  I don’t put a lot on because a little goes a loooong way.  What I do is dab a little on then smooth my lips with my finger to create a more warmed up look. The color is THREE WISE GIRLS

Peach: This is my favorite peachy tone.  I love wearing this guy lounging by the pool.  It’s antioxidant and moisture rich formula is such a great combination during the warmer months. It also has a hint of peppermint oil that adds the perfect amount of tinkle! The color is APRICOT

Pink: Looking for the perfect coral pink? Here you go! This satin lip matte cream lipstick is also a favorite.  I’ve been using these lip creams for 3 + years. They stay put and have such a creamy soft finish. This shade is perfect for the spring and summer.  I will say if you lips are super dry you may want to add a little chapstick beforehand.  You will notice the creases. The color is SAN PAULO

Mauve: love me some mauve lips. This lip balm plumps without the tinkle and adds the perfect amount of color that’s buildable.  I also love the chubby stick. This is one of my favorite on the go lip balms. The color is DOLLY FEVER

Red: I couldn’t leave out my favorite red. This red is my OG. No matter how many reds I’ve tried this one will always be “the one”. It is a true red, no hints of orange or pinks. Plus the formula is fantastic, minimal if any reapplying. The color is BESO

Thanks so much for reading. As always you can find all of these products in one please right here.

My Am & Pm SkinCare Routine Broken Down

AM & PM Skincare Routine

Who knew skincare could be so complicated?  Gone are the days of simple face wash and cream.  We now have serums and beauty elixirs made from the blood of unicorns.  Ok fine maybe they aren’t that extra but some products available are a bit much.   My grandmother believes dove soap and cooking with olive oil is the best skincare routine. She may be onto something because she’s 90 years young and maybe has one wrinkle. Most mornings I’m in a rush and by the evenings my exhaustion kicks in right as I put my last son to bed.  Bottom line people, I needed a fast, easy and effective skincare routine.   I’m here to break down all the products I use.  As I type this I do realize I use a lot of products.  However, I promise the process takes about 5 minutes tops.  I am listing the products in the order I use them. Let’s dive in.

Morning:

Cleanser:  This cleanser is my ride or die.  It leaves my skin feeling so clean. It smells fresh and soapy.  It’s not referred to as the cult classic for nothing.

Toner: Love this toner.  It removes any impurities from my pours. It sets my skin up for the next steps.

Serum:  If you add one thing to your skincare routine from this post make it this serum.  Vitamin C is so important for your skin and this bad boy brightens your skin, smooths lines and helps protect against all the unpleasant things we find in the environment.

Moisturizer: I’ve been using this one for over a year and it has vitamin C and is extremely brightening.

Eye cream:  Hands down my favorite brightening eye cream.  I’ve used it for over a year and I have seen a dramatic difference in dark circles.

Sunscreen: Girls, never miss this step.  It is SO important.  Even on the days where I put on a tinted moistures that has SPF in it I will not skip this step!   I love the little shimmer this one gives and it smells like vacation.  I’ll put it on and pretend I’m on a beach.  Hey, a girl can dream.

Lip Balm: We can’t forget to protect those lips.  I have like 10 of these lip balms scattered around my house, purses and car.  Absolute favorite.

Night:

So I will be a little extra at night.   When I’m wearing make-up I double cleanse my face.

Cleansing balm: I like to remove my make-up using a cleansing balm opposed to wipes. Mainly because the wipes usually never worked and I would wake up with mascara under my eyes. I have tried a few others before I found this one.  They usually left my eyes burning and blurry.  This one is fantastic as I use an almond sized amount and it not only removes all my make up but doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes. It’s a tad pricey but it will you a while.

Cleanser: Same as the morning.

Toner: Same as the morning.

Serum:  This serum has been referred to as “botox in a bottle” and it lives up to the name.  It’s my favorite and I will never stop incorporating this serum into my routine.

Moisturizer: This super rich cream is perfect. Thanks to my 19 year old niece for introducing me to this clean and affordable brand.  I have a few things from this brand and I really like them all.

Eye Cream: I need some extra moisture at night and this eye cream fits the bill.

Neck and Décolleté Balm: Yeah I said it.  I’m no longer a spring chicken and I’m all about being proactive with skin care. This guy fits the bill.

Now that I laid out what I use daily I’m going to sprinkle on some of my extras.

The Extras:

Eye Patches: Love these to lift and firm. Love these to brighten.

Clay Mask: This one shrinks my pours right up

Exfoliating/Brightening Mask:  For when I need to add some glow into my skin. I’ll use this one.

Sheet Masks: Sheet masks have become a favorite of mine. Zero clean up.  This one I love because of how hydrated it makes my skin feel. This one is I use when I want some brightening.

Exfoliator: So I like to feel an exfoliate to know it’s working.  This one is more has more grit to it.   I use it about 3 times a week.

Overnight peel:  I’ll use this 1-2 times a week.

Retinol Serum- I will use this 3 times a week at night.

Headband:  I just ordered these cute spa headbands to keep my hair out of my face.  I couldn’t resist the price and the cuteness.

There you have it.  All my skincare broken down in writing for your reading pleasure. I’ll leave you all with two tips that I live by when it comes to skincare.  ONE: drink water, drink as much water as you think you need then add like four glasses.  Beautiful skin comes from within. Two: I can’t stress this enough NEVER EVER sleep with make up on.   Thanks so much for reading. I’ve linked all my products here in one place.

Trending: Baseball Hats

How to style baseball hats.

I’ve become a big fan of baseball…hats.  I haven’t been to a game in ages and I don’t particularly support any specific team but quite frankly I’d give just about anything to go anywhere these days and that includes a sporting event.  Back to the hats.  Baseball hats have been gaining more and more popularity these past years.  They are a great option when transitioning from season to season.  Specifically now, so swap out that beanie for a baseball hat.  They add a sporty touch to any outfit.  Not to mention they are great when your dry shampoo can’t take you that extra day.  I love pairing them with a blazer.  Mixing refined and sporty pieces is a favorite look I like to play around with.  In the summer I like pairing them with fitted jersey dresses.  Transitioning into spring I will wear a baseball cap with a hoodie sweatshirt.  Baseball caps are also a lot easier to transport which means I’ll be wearing them by the pool this summer.  I also like to keep one in my car just incase the occasion calls for it.  I’m currently really crushing on this rust color.  I just ordered this lighter one for the spring.  I’m more into neutral tones but I do like a pop of pastels for the spring and a hat is a great way to achieve it.  I have rounded up some hats here that are perfect to transition from winter to spring.  I love all these colors…I see a purchase in my future. Thanks for reading!

5 Healthy Habits i do daily

Let’s be honest, most of us try our best to live a healthy lifestyle.  I try to incorporate these healthy habits into my daily routine which in turn has made them become part of my life. They may seem small but they are mighty.  I notice a difference when I skip a day or two.  Like many other people by the end of the day I’m tired, I mean like really tired .  Raising 4 kids, trying to nurture them into legit decent humans is tough.  Never in my life did I think it would be this tough but it’s also so rewarding.

  1. Drink water with lemon- Sounds simple enough right?  You would be surprised how many people are not consuming the right amount of water daily.  Below is a little trick I learned to calculate how much water you should be drinking.   I also know a lot of people who don’t enjoy drinking water in general.  I find adding lemon, cucumber, mint give water a nice taste.   Infuse your water with some berries, pineapple or melon.  Most importantly…drink you water!  This water bottle is super helpful to those who forget to drink water!

Calculating how much water you should drink a day:

  • Take your weight (in pounds) and divide that by 2.2.
  • Multiply that number depending on your age: If you’re younger than 30, multiply by 40. If you’re between 30-55, multiply by 35. If you’re older than 55, multiply by 30.
  • Divide that sum by 28.3.
  • Your total is how many ounces of water you should drink each day. Divide that number by 8 to see your result in cups.
  1. A healthy skincare routine.  This is so important.  Keeping consistent with a skin care routine can keep your skin glowing and if your skin in glowing you are baby.  I have a day time and night time routine and both take under 5 mins.  I don’t have time for too many steps but I always do a cleanser, serum, eye cream, moisturizer and neck cream.  My day and night products are linked here.  Oh and I never ever forget sunscreen!  The serums I use are pricey but they are the best and worth every penny If you can swing it.

Day:

Cleanser

Toner

Serum

Moisturizer

Eye Cream

Sunscreen

Night:

Cleanser

Toner

Serum

Moistures

EyeCream

Neck Cream

  1. Carve out 30 minutes of “me” time.  This is usually when I have my afternoon cup of coffee or tea.  I like to use this time for exercising but sometimes I just need to relax. I start with a quick few minutes of stretching.  You’ll be surprised at how fantastic a good stretch makes you feel.  Speaking of me time this could mean getting lost in a rabbit hole search of the new Targaryen series or looking for our next vacation.  Having a few minutes solitude helps me collect my thoughts for the rest of the day.  I will either set the kids up with an activity or put on a show.   As moms there should be no shame for turning on the tv or allowing them their tablet for short periods of time.  Mamma needs her time too.
  1. Fresh air.  This is so important.  Even on the coldest of days we are going out for at least a half hour.  Ever feel off or aggravated?  Go for a walk.  I read somewhere that fresh air can reset your mood. See what a world of good it can do.
  1. Unwind with a book and a warm beverage before bed.  I’ve been cutting out television before bed and upping my reading game. I’ve noticed how much better I’ve been sleeping. I try to read for at least 20 mins before bed.  This calms my mind and helps me unwind.  I always enjoy a cup of tea while I read.  The whole process is just relaxing to me and by the end of the day I’m looking forward to it.  This tea has has been a favorite of mine and really helps me unwind.  I also love these mugs

My last bit, give yourself grace.  It’s been a rough year.  Scarlett O’Hara said it best “tomorrow is another day”.  We aren’t perfect and that’s ok.  Making small changes can have big results.  These specific healthy habits may not work for you but I think getting into some sort of routine is great start.  Wishing you a happy and healthy Sunday friends.

Ive added links throughout this post but if you like to see everything in one place you can here.  While you are there you can give a “follow” so I pop up on your feed.  Happy Sunday friends.

Packing Your Hospital Bag 101

The Hospital Bag Essentials Check List:

Having a baby can be very overwhelming, especially if you are a first time mom.  Not only do you have to worry about packing for yourself but also for your new baby and sometimes your husband!   I have compiled a hospital check list that will help new moms prepare their hospital bag without packing too much (guilty!) or too little.  I have linked some of my favorite pieces to help as well.   I hope this list helps all of the expectant mother’s out there.  Because you never know what you may need 🙂

For Mama:

hb1

The Over Sized Travel Bag

This is the bag that I use.  It fits everything and the vegan leather feels great.  Plus it’s super chic.

ssss

Three Pairs of Comfy Warm Socks

I will labor with socks on, I hate having cold feet.  I’ll also sleep with socks on especially in the hospital..

hb3

Delivery Gown

I hate hospital gowns so this is a pretty alternative.   I used this for both my deliveries and I’ll be using it again very soon!

hb4

Two Pairs of Comfortable Pajamas

I personally can’t sleep well at night if I am not wearing my own pajama’s so I always bring 2 pairs with me.   These are super comfy and priced great.

hb5

Three Tank Tops

These are hands down my favorite layering tank.  It’s longer and I love it.  I have so many because they are at a great price point.

hb6

Two Long Sleeve Shirts

The perfect long sleeve lounge shirt.   Loose and long fitting.

hb8

A Robe

To slip on during labor or at night. I love this robe.  It’s the perfect material.

hb9

Three Pairs of Sweat Pants or Joggers

I prefer joggers since they are clenched at the bottoms.  I am one of those people who like to get dressed during the day even if it’s in sweats.  You will be sore no matter if you have a natural or c-section birth so there is no need to be tripping up on your pants.  Joggers are just easier to get around in.   These are one of my favorite pairs.  I will be wearing a pair home from the hospital as well.

hb7

Over Sized Cardigan

Good to throw on during the day.  Or for your going home outfit.

hb10

Slippers

I prefer slipper socks since they won’t slip off.

hb11

Flip Flops

You will want these for the shower.

cozy

Shoes to Leave the Hospital

I’ve had a baby in the summer and wore flip flops home from the hospital, I’ve had a baby in the fall and wore UGG booties home and I’m about to have a baby in the winter which means I’ll wear some sort of UGG boot home.  Either way, chose footwear that slip on and off easily since you may be a little sore to bend and tie sneakers.

hb12

Pads

They are provided in the hospital but beware they are gigantic!  I prefer these.

hb13

Depends

Don’t knock em’ until you try em’.  The hospital gives you this lovely gauze underwear.  Which is awful in my opinion…It’s a messy business birthing a baby and there’s no way around it, depends plus a pad just make it easier…

hb14

Nipple Balm

If you are nursing this is a must have, your nips will be on fire for the first few days and this stuff is a life savor.

hb15

Nursing Bra

This one is personal favorite of mine.

hb18

A Comfy Blanket

This may sound silly now but hospital linens and blankets leave much to be desired.  I always back blanket for me and my husband who never leaves my side 🙂

Travel Sized Toiletries

No need to pack the big guys. Below you will find a list of travel size toiletries and other miscellaneous items I pack.

Beauty

  • Lip balm because you wont believe how dry your lips will get during labour.
  • Body wash
  • Shampoo + Conditioner
  • Toothbrush, paste and floss
  • Hairbrush and hair elastics
  • Travel Mirror
  • Contact case
  • Face Cream
  • Eye Cream
  • Body Lotion
  • Hand Cream
  • Glasses and Contacts (if you wear them)

Electronics

  • Cell Phone
  • Charger
  • Camera
  • Music Playlist or Pandora App Downloaded

Extras:

  • Insurance Card
  • Divers License
  • Small Thank you gifts for the nurses- I usually buy 3 medium boxes of Godiva Chocolates.  I’ll give one to the Labour and Delivery nurses, then to my nurses in my patient room (the night shift and the morning.)  I will also send my Doctor’s a little edible arrangement to their office.
  • Cash
  • Cord Blood Banking Kit if you are doing it.

For Baby

The hospital will provide your baby with all of the essentials.  A cute little hat, swaddle blankets, a long sleeve undershirt, plus diapers, pacifier and formula.   Below I have listed what I bring for my new bundle.

  • Newborn Hats- Because they are so much cuter then the hospital ones.
  • Naturesutton BPA Free Pacifier – I prefer this pacifier over the ones the hospital gives.
  • Two Swaddle Blankets- When taking pictures I prefer my own plus like the newborn hats they are much cuter.
  • Going Home Outfit-  This depends on when your baby is born.  Since this baby is going to be a winter baby in New Jersey I will be bringing a long sleeve onsie, warm footie pajama’s, warm one piece to go over with a hood and footies (think kid from the Christmas Story) and of course a warm hat.  Also a blanket to cover him with.
  • Formula-  If you are going this route the hospital usually carries one or two brands but if you want a specific brand or organic brand I would bring a few bottle just incase.

For Dad

Make sure dad packs for himself too!  My husband will usually pack a change of clothes and deodorant since we live relatively close to the hospital so he will sneak out when family comes to see the baby for a quick shower and change.  But for those who can’t leave below is a small list of items that dad will need.

  • 2-3 Pairs of pants, sweats, or shorts depending on the area you live in.
  • 2-3 Shirts
  • 1-2 Sweat shirts or Zip Ups.
  • 2-3 Pairs of underwear
  • 2-3 Pairs of socks
  • Sneakers
  • Oh and make sure he brings his balls, he’s going to need them  😉

There you have it.  I hope this list helps all the expectant mommy’s out there stress a little less about packing their hospital bag.  Best of luck to all of you and many blessings on your new babies!

If you have any questions just comment below and I’ll be happy to answer!

Women’s Gift Guide

Hey Everyone!  The holiday’s are approaching which means…shopping!  and the stress of holiday gift shopping!  What do I get so and so?  Will she like it? Maybe I’ll just get a gift card.  Listen I have nothing against gift cards (especially if they are to Starbucks)  but I think there is something so personal about giving and opening a gift. I’m listing a few of my favorites that I hope will help you with your holiday shopping this year.

mia2

Clarisonic Mia 2

This little machine is the best thing since sliced bread in my opinion.  You will never know how much excess dirt you have on your face until you use a clarisonic.  Talk about a deep clean.  There are many different brush heads to choose from which allows you for an even  deeper clean.  I use the sensitive brush head and it still gives me a great clean.  I use mine every night and love it!  Especially after a night out when I tend to wear more make-up.  This is one of my all time go to gifts that is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

2922952_fpx-tif

Modern Friction Face Scrub

Unfortunately I am not able to get facial’s as much as I like.  I have a very strict “bed time beauty regime” as my husband calls it.  You should exfoliate your facial skin about 2-3 times per week and this non invasive scrub does the trick.  When I became pregnant with my first son I did a ton of research on what products were safe to use.  I came across Origins and never looked back.

mugs

Gold Initial Mug

I love this mug and I love anything with my initial.  The limited edition gold adds the perfect sparkle for the holiday season.

51119469

Blanket Scarf

An absolute wardrobe must! This scarf is warm, stylish and set a great price point!

slippers

Slippers

I hate walking barefoot but can’t exactly run after two toddlers in big fluffy slippers.  These UGG slippers are comfortable and movable.

281658_1345_1

Saddle Bag

I love this bag, it’s so sleek and surprisingly roomy for a smaller bag.  You can wear it as a cross body or shoulder bag.  The gold embellishment adds the perfect touch..  It also comes in three great colors.

Hunter Rain Boots

Yet another wardrobe essential.  These stylish boots are not only great in the rain but also the snow.  They slip on and off super easily, no tedious laces here!

 Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Camera

Perfect for the photo enthusiast! Ok ok, this is currently what I am hoping for from Santa this year but this camera is fantastic.  I was looking for a camera that I could bring everywhere with me but didn’t require a huge camera bag.  My best friend and sometimes photographer 😉 uses this camera and the images come out amazing.  This little guy definitely packs a powerful punch.  It’s a compact camera that gives you the quality of a bigger sized professional camera.

Making a Statement

Thanksgiving is next week which officially means the holiday season has begun.  I love everything about the holiday’s from the food to the style.  What I love about fashion these days is the individualism so pretty much anything goes.  I must say one constant with my holiday style is a great piece of statement jewelry to make an outfit pop!  Lately I have been very into statement necklaces and a great choker.  The right necklace can transform any outfit from blah to wow! I love pairing a sparkly necklace with another one of this seasons favorites, velvet ❤ Now that says happy holidays! I’ve linked a few of my favorites, including the velvet top and the sparkly gem i’m wearing in the above photo.  Some of these are a great price and are currently 20% or 25% off so act fast because well ’tis the season 😉
